Summary, etc Publicly crowd sourced data has been relevant in recent years to the building of technological tools that rely on its analysis. The objective of this project is to build a mobile application that provides up to date traffic reports other road users making use of
the application. Using the spiral methodology to software development, the software was built incrementally so as to encapsulate all the needs of the users. UML diagrams were used to model the interactions of components in the system. The software is limited only to residents of Lagos Nigeria. The software was able to implement the traffic reporting feature which allowed users reporting the traffic to give updates on the routes where traffic was taking place and even provide alternative routes that could be taken to bypass the traffic. By doing so other users making use of the software were alerted on potential traffic hotspots ahead of time. This in turn enables them to plan better before going on the road.
In conclusion, the implemented software is capable of providing traffic reporting features and live updates to users. For future work I intend on using live location data from smartphones to identify traffic hotspots.
