A SECURED E-LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR SMART SCHOOL

By: ODOM, Ifeanyi ShadrachMaterial type: TextTextPublisher: Ibafo Computer Science and Mathematics 2019Edition: Mr. Falana O. JDescription: ix; 82 dia, tablesSubject(s): Computer ScienceSummary: Securing e-learning Management Systems on Cloud Computing recognizes the safety aspects required to be implemented in e-learning environments. Therefore, if data is useful and available to anyone, it will be easy for everyone to gain access, regardless of whether they have positive or bad intent. The internet is now the place for a fresh set of illegal operations, and such threats are now exposed to the e-learning setting. The aim of this project is to see how to secure e-learning Management Systems by preventing the loss of confidentiality, as data must be protected with integrity and accessibility regardless of how valuable it might be. Securing e-learning Management System for Smart Schools ensures that all the schools’ records is secured. This project work would be achieved with other frontend and backend technologies using Visual Studio Community 2017 as the Integrated Development Environment and Asp.net Model View Controller (MVC). Moreover, the e-learning system’s safety is split into two parts: the first is the one-factor authentication: using username and password, where the user can also use Open Authorisation (OAuth2.0) authentication. The second aspect is the Two-Factor authentication using google authenticator and email services, which adds an additional protective layer to the authentication method. Considering the security of e-learning systems by authenticating users using OAuth 2.0 protocol, users do not have to re-enter their details or credentials, which saves the system development cycle and development cost. As the functionality of e-learning continues to expand and relies more on internet. Using the 2FA, it adds an extra layer of security to the authentication process. The combination of distinct safety approaches to e-learning systems has been noted to be a useful strategy, but it also difficult to maintain as well as increasing development expenses. Management of Information Security is regarded to contribute to the development of a secure e-learning setting.

Securing e-learning Management Systems on Cloud Computing recognizes the safety aspects
required to be implemented in e-learning environments. Therefore, if data is useful and
available to anyone, it will be easy for everyone to gain access, regardless of whether they have
positive or bad intent. The internet is now the place for a fresh set of illegal operations, and
such threats are now exposed to the e-learning setting. The aim of this project is to see how to
secure e-learning Management Systems by preventing the loss of confidentiality, as data must
be protected with integrity and accessibility regardless of how valuable it might be. Securing
e-learning Management System for Smart Schools ensures that all the schools’ records is
secured.
This project work would be achieved with other frontend and backend technologies using
Visual Studio Community 2017 as the Integrated Development Environment and Asp.net
Model View Controller (MVC). Moreover, the e-learning system’s safety is split into two parts:
the first is the one-factor authentication: using username and password, where the user can also
use Open Authorisation (OAuth2.0) authentication. The second aspect is the Two-Factor
authentication using google authenticator and email services, which adds an additional
protective layer to the authentication method.
Considering the security of e-learning systems by authenticating users using OAuth 2.0
protocol, users do not have to re-enter their details or credentials, which saves the system
development cycle and development cost. As the functionality of e-learning continues to
expand and relies more on internet. Using the 2FA, it adds an extra layer of security to the
authentication process.
The combination of distinct safety approaches to e-learning systems has been noted to be a
useful strategy, but it also difficult to maintain as well as increasing development expenses.
Management of Information Security is regarded to contribute to the development of a secure
e-learning setting.
