In the past twenty years, Nigeria could be proud of over sixty listed companies in the consumer goods sector. At present, only twenty-eight listed companies remained on the list of the quoted consumer goods companies in Nigeria. Even, some of these listed firms are also mere figure heads because their shares are not actively traded on the stock echange. high cost of finance and poor financial performance in this sector may be associated with this ugly trend. consequently, this study investigated the effect of bank lending on corporate financial performance. The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of interest expense, leverage and loan turnover on financial performance of the listed consumer goods companies in Nigeria. Longitudinal research design was adopted for this study. This research was carried out using a sample size of thirteen listed companies in the Nigerian consumer goods sector which was determined by judgmental sampling techniques.
