This study investigates the public perception and attitude towards media coverage of gunmen attacks in Mushin Local Government. The aim is to examine the public's awareness of media coverage of such attacks and explore their perception of the accuracy of media reporting. The research was conducted through a survey method, with 435 respondents participating in an online questionnaire distributed via Google Forms. The findings reveal that a significant portion of the public is aware of media coverage of gunmen attacks in Mushin Local Government. Social media emerged as the most prominent source of information, reflecting its growing influence on news consumption. The study highlights the need for media organizations to consider social media platforms as crucial channels for disseminating information to the public. Regarding the public's perception of media accuracy, the respondents generally rated media reporting on gunmen attacks as reliable and credible. However, some uncertainty exists regarding potential exaggerations for better ratings or attention. This finding emphasizes the importance of maintaining journalistic integrity and fact-checking protocols in media reporting. Overall, the study provides valuable insights into the public's perception of media coverage on sensitive topics like gunmen attacks. The results underscore the significance of social media as a key information source and the need for responsible reporting to foster public trust. The findings have implications for media practitioners and policymakers in understanding and addressing the public's concerns related to media coverage of sensitive issues.
