The major objectives of this study are to analyse the similarities and differences of the use of slang among undergraduates of the University of Lagos and Mountain Top University with a view to highlighting the morphological processes used in the formation of the slang words. Operating within an analytical research design model, the study utilises a recording device and a questionnaire as the instruments of data collection. A qualitative analysis is employed. In this regard, stratified random sampling and quota sampling techniques have been employed by ensuring that the target audience is selected in both the University of Lagos and Mountain Top University. Participant observation method is utilised throughout. This is achieved via audio-recording of students’ conversation. The analytical and theoretical paradigms of Contrastive Analysis and Behaviourism have been employed for data analysis. The data analysis reveal answers to all the research questions stated in this study; these answers are derived from the answers given by respondents on the questionnaire. The type of question deployed in this study is direct question. The study has provided a framework for scholars to study the uses, meaning(s), functions and effects of slang.
