520 _aAbstract The research work examined the effects of financial control and accountability in Nigeria public sector. The objectives of the study were to determine the cash inflow and outflow control and find out whether necessary accounts are kept and to determine the extent to which control and information communication affects accountability. The research was carried out, using the University of Lagos as the case study. Primary Data was collected through self administered questionnaires for 50 respondents they include staff in the account department. Findings from this research show that it was revealed that there is a significant relationship between cash inflow control in the public sector in Nigeria and accountability. The research recommends that Institutions should regularly provide adequate training in terms of seminars and workshops to those in charge of financial control in order to have up-to-date knowledge on the requirements to performed efficient and effective financial control.
