ABSTRACT
This study is aimed at investigating the types, causes and effects of organizational conflicts
in the organization as well as the strategies adopted in the resolution of the conflicts in the
bank. The survey research method was adopted for the study. Primary data were collected
from all staff of a branch of the bank using questionnaire and interview techniques. Secondary data were collected from published works. Data were presented in tables as
frequency distribution and analyzed with percentages and frequencies. The major findings of
the study include the following: Conflicts do occur in the Zenith Bank Nigeria Plc. These include those due to selfrelationship, conflict between staff and management, between the management staff, and
between other staff. The causes range from poor communication, organizational policies, individual goals, ineffective reward system to poor superior-subordinate relationship. The resolution strategies adopted include abstention, reconciling, disputation, give- and-take, cooperation, peace-making, team resolution, etc. Conflicts have adverse effects on employees and the organization. Effective conflict management enhances organizational performance
